Relive the Napoleonic Wars

From grassy plains to arid deserts to seaborne ships, Holdfast: Nations At War invites you to take part in multiple aspects of the Napoleonic Wars. All troops and ship types are historically accurate down to every detail, ensuring that you will feel as though you have journeyed right back in time. Choose to fight for Napoleon and France, or side against him with Britain. Fight in field battles armed with a musket, or man the cannons in heated sea battles.

Call to arms: the Age of Sail

Soldiers in Holdfast: Nations At War are once again called to arms on the naval warfare front with the new free expansion, the Age of Sail, featuring the introduction of the Privateer faction based on the infamous French Privateer Jean Lafitte. The Privateers have made a name for themselves as a bunch of rag tags with “piratey” voice lines that’ll send chills down a British soldier’s spine.

This new expansion introduces Naval Conquest, a game mode with the objective of capturing and holding fortified islands. It adds a whole slew of new maps, catered specifically to this mode. Crew members will also be able to board and capture enemy ships, removing them from the enemy team’s spawn list and adding them to their own. In addition, Captains can issue orders that come with well-timed buffs.

The expansion also releases alongside a new cosmetic DLC called “Nelson’s Own, and features British naval commander, Admiral Horatio Lord Nelson, a commander well-known for his victories against the French and Spanish fleets. It comes complete with all-new Captain-themed skins for several weapons, and it also comes with new uniforms, a Nelson head, and more. True British sailors will definitely want this cosmetic DLC to show love for their faction.

Flashback to the Great War

While the Napoleonic Wars are the main era the game is set in, another free expansion called the Frontlines adds a ton of brand-new content focusing on World War I. This includes weapons, maps, tanks, and vehicles that were popular during the Great War. It features prominent factions like the Americans and Ottomans, who are plunged into No Man’s Land to destroy each other.

The expansion introduces the Offensive game mode, where two factions will fight ferociously in an attempt to capture and secure strategic positions. You and your fellow soldiers will fight in the trenches, and slowly gain ground while surviving enemy shelling and the onslaught of their machine guns. Artillery and smoke screens can be utilized to assist your team in completing objectives and hopefully to come out victorious in battle.

The conflict arrives on the console home front

More players can now relive the horrors of the Napoleonic Wars, as Holdfast: Nations At War makes its way to consoles. Players can hop into multiplayer matches and enjoy full crossplay support between consoles and PC, creating a chaotic all-out war with over 150 players on the battlefield. The developers wanted to make the game accessible to a wider audience, and they’ve done just that.

While the addition of the game to consoles is a great move, one thing that players are going to be disappointed with is the lack of mod support on consoles. Only PC players are able to load into community servers that have custom modded content, and console players are restricted to official content and maps released by the developers.

All-out multiplayer action

If you want to truly recapture the tension and heated atmosphere of the Napoleonic Wars at their most intense, then Holdfast: Nations At War allows you to take part in multiplayer matches with over 150 players per server. Whether you choose to fight in the fields or on the sea, you will have no shortage of friends or foes alike as you battle it out during the turbulent reign of Napoleon Bonaparte.
